History of LUCS

 First  25 Years

The committee that has been reviewing the early days of LUCS has now finished its task, with the publication of a history covering the 25 years from LUCS’ establishment in 1975 until the millennium in 2000.

It is now available from the LUCS Museum at Manse Road Basin, Linlithgow as a 40 page A4 colour booklet for £8.00 or as a CD, containing the booklet as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file for viewing or printing, accompanied by all the illustrations as JPEG files, for £5.00.  It is also available by mail order from John Aitken, Sulisker, Boghall, Linlithgow EH49 7GR – please include the full delivery address, make your cheque payable to “LUCS” and add £2.00 per order for post and packing. Enquiries from outside the UK are welcomed. Please e-mail john@linnet.co.uk for the cost of post and packing and preferred method of payment.

The history is based on past issues of LUCS News and committee minutes, supported by the memories of those who were there at the time and contains illustrations from LUCS’ extensive photograph library.

Thanks are due to John Aitken, Barbara Braithwaite, Jim Lonie, the late Bill Thomson, who sadly died just at the end of 2006, Wilma Thomson and Bob Wigley who compiled and edited the history.
