These Terms and Conditions form part of your LUCS booking. By ticking the "Accept Terms" box you agree to accept them and to abide by them.
The booking contract is between you (the passenger, you) and the Linlithgow Union Canal Society (LUCS, us/we) and is made under Scots Law. The contract is effective once a booking is made.
These canal cruises are really not suitable for children, particularly children under 3 years old. Adults must ernsure that the children in their care behave. There is no charge for children under 3 years of age.
Dogs are permitted on board on the condition that they are well behaved and that they are kept under control at all times by their owners.
Unless agreed with LUCS in advance, full payment must be made at the time of booking. The booking confirmation is not an invoice. Unless specifically agreed by LUCS, bookings that are not settled at least 7 days prior to the cruise will be void and LUCS may assign the places to other passengers.
Notify LUCS by email to firstname.lastname@example.org if for any reason you wish to amend or cancel your booking.
Your email will be acknowledged by LUCS by email sent to the address that you have supplied and any refund due will then be made by LUCS.
If you give LUCS at least 14 days notice of cancellation, LUCS will issue a full refund of the price paid by you.
No refund will be given if less than 14 days cancellation notice is received by LUCS. Bookings made at less than 14 days notice remain payable, even if they are cancelled.
LUCS will make every effort to ensure that the cruise proceeds as scheduled. However on rare occasions this may not be possible. In such cases, every effort will be made to provide you with a reasonable alternative.
If for any reason we require to cancel your booking, we will refund all payments made by you in full, and you shall have no further claim against LUCS.
LUCS shall not be liable for any matters arising from any cause beyond LUCS's negligence or wilful defaults, including (without limitation) death or personal injury of hirers, their crew and passengers, loss or damage to property; non-fulfilment or interruption of the booking or delays; breakdowns; mechanical problems; defects damage; restriction on cruising; obstructions; repairs or damage to waterways; non-availability of routes; navigational works; storms; floods; drought; loss or shortage of water or other weather conditions; rationing, shortage or non-availability of fuel; or in respect of any consequential loss, damage, expense, injury or claim.
Limited parking is provided for the convenience of passengers. LUCS accepts no liability for loss or damage to customers' vehicles or their contents, unless proven to be caused by LUCS's negligence.
You are particularly advised not to leave valuables or readily portable items in your vehicles. Any items not wanted on the boat should be securely locked out of sight in your boot.
Unless collected in person by prior arrangement, property left on boats can only be returned after receipt of payment covering an agreed postage and packaging charge. (Minimum charge £10).
Unfortunately the weather is outwith our control – if LUCS feels that it would be unwise to sail due to adverse weather conditions we will give you as much notice as possible and offer to reschedule your cruise or refund your payment in full.
